Yes it’s 9.30am and we are all sitting at the kitchen table trying to wake up with a morning cuppa.
Christmas has arrived and I am thankful for a couple of days off of work to be able to pot around our castle (which we lovingly call “Casa De Ghoul”) and just rest.
We are not really ones for celebrating Christmas (I am a Pagan after all and here in Australia it isn’t Yule until midway during the year), however we do love putting up decorations in our front garden for all the neighbourhood to see:
There are no kids in our household so we don’t actually buy presents for each other as we usually do this all year round…I’ve had some very nice presents this year from Paul & Caetlyn. Now I know some people would say that sounds very sad, but it isn’t to us and as they say – “each to his own”.
We have received some lovely gifts from friends (whom we call “family” – their surname is Mclean too) in England which we appreciate very much as they were gifts made by hand with love and thoughtfulness – not just something bought off the shelf at an exorbitant price.
I do prefer gifts that are made this way – call me old fashioned but these days everyone is running around the shops trying to buy the best gifts for their loved ones and getting stressed because of the cost, the crowds, the rude (and sometimes rather smelly) people etc., I just don’t want to be a part of that and that’s NOT the original way Christmas was supposed to be. Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ – so if you are a Christian, this is a very special day for you, and should be celebrated accordingly…..but somehow it’s turned into a Hallmark type of holiday where everyone is expected to fork out heaps of money on presents for people who they don’t really want to buy for. The other side of it is that people EXPECT to receive gifts and get huffy if they don’t get what they want. It was NEVER meant to be this way!!
Anyway – I could go on a major rant about that, but I won’t right now…
Caetlyn has also done a blog if you would like to read it – go HERE
I will just wish you all who are celebrating this day a very Happy, Safe and Healthy Christmas..
Yes today is my last day of my much loved holidays, gee it’s gone so quick and I’m only just starting to unwind. Not fair – I didn’t win the lottery, so unfortunately – It’s back to work for me tomorrow!!
These holidays have seen some achievements though. During the last 3 months we have all been very unwell so the house has been a bit ramshackle at the best of times, so it has been nice to finally clean up a bit and get things organised. We now have Caetlyn in a bigger bedroom and we have put a library in her old bedroom:
MCLEAN FAMILY LIBRARY
We have put the lounge room – which used to be where Caetlyn is now, into the front sun room and got ourselves a whizzy new lounge suite:
Plus we all got new beds to help our backs which have been caning us on the old beds…..
And I also have my art room back now, which was being used as a storage facility for empty bottles and wayward cardboard packaging (that everything seems to come in these days).
Plus we had a mini trip in PANCHI to Sunbury in Victoria to pick up some equipment for Paul’s studio.
I have now set up all the pages on this website so I can use this regularly to air my thoughts and desires at will (without criticism), so that’s another achievement. But be warned – even though I have enabled comments – any rude or annoying comments WILL be DELETED!!
It has been a busy couple of weeks with lots of movie watching and playing scrabble to the wee hours of the morning as family time. All in all it has been good.
It’s 11.28am on Sunday and I am still sitting in bed thinking about making a start on my last day of holidays to make some achievement by the end of the day.
So so long for now and I will catch you on the darkside!!
Yes I know, I have been slack on the Website updating, so I am setting a goal of doing/updating one page per day until I have finished the basics of them. It’s been a busy time of year for us with one thing and another –
DARKWENCH here – at last, thanks to the lovely Caetlyn McLean, I have my very own website so I am able to put up my thoughts and my interests without having to put up with “knob-jockeys” making stupid comments or putting me down!!
I am ALL about being positive in this very negative world and therefore have no time for those who want to run someone else down with their nastiness…
There may be things that I put up that you disagree with….
There may be things that you agree with also!!
I may put a page on this site where you can contact me, chat with me etc., but that will be way down the track until I get this page happening the way I want it to..
Meanwhile, park your broom, grab a cuppa, pull up a chair and come on a journey with me through life!!
